Shipwreck Saturday - Capernwray

Shipwreck Saturday - Capernwray.
This week on #shipwrecksaturday we have the popular Capernwray dive site with several accessible wrecks. Capernwray is a popular inland dive site 2 1/2 hours away from Glasgow with a variety of underwater "transport" themed wrecks, including a Hawker Siddeley 748 aircraft, a Dickens Class Harbour minesweeper, and other smaller vessels. These wrecks, along with a large container for cave diving simulation, create an "underwater theme park" experience. Divers can also explore a gnome garden, Lord Lucan, and the "Thunderbird". It's a fantastic dive site to run the PADI Wreck Diving Speciality in a safe, fun environment with several boats, planes and even helicopters to choose from. PADI Wreck Speciality Course - https://bit.ly/4hGZbaO Specific Wrecks and Features: Dickens Class Harbour Minesweeper: A scuttled WWII minesweeper, lying on its side in 18 meters of water. Hawker Siddeley 748: A 50-seater passenger plane from a defunct airline. Other Wrecks: Smaller wrecks, including a light plane, helicopters, and other vessels. Large Container: A large container used for simulating cave diving. Gnome Garden, Lord Lucan, Thunderbird: These are other underwater attractions and landmarks at Capernwray. Additional Dive Site Features: Marine Life: Capernwray is also home to various fish species, including trout, perch, roach, pike, and sturgeon, some of which are quite large. Dive Facilities: A dive shop, cafe, toilets, and showers are available at the site. Easy Access: A gently sloping shingle beach makes entry and exit into the water quite pleasant. Due to the popular demand of our last Capernwray trip back in July, Scuba Diving Scotland will be running another Capernwray trip 6th & 7th September 2025.
